The story so far.

1987
The band formed and started rehearsals

1988
The band started gigging around the South Wales Clubs, pubs and Leisure Centres. Their first newspaper article appeared in the Gwent Gazette.

1989
The band entered the Annual Battle of the Bands competition held in Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre. Red Alert won first prize and to this day hold the record for the most points scored by any band who have entered in the history of the event. Later that year, the band made a video for one of their own songs. The video was entered into the National Institute of Videography competition and won first prize. A snippet of the video and an interview with singer Lee Davidge was shown on the HTV evening news. A performance at St David's Hall in Cardiff was filmed by the BBC.

1990
The BBC showed coverage of the St. David's Hall gig along with an interview with Bass Player Kevin Davidge on the TV programme "Youth Session". Two of their own songs were aired on Red Dragon Radio's programme called "The Biz" along with interview with Lead Singer Lee Davidge. This year saw the release of the bands debut single "Can't Help Loving You" which enjoyed air play on local radio programmes and excellent reviews in the newspapers.
In November of this year the band played their 100th gig at Tredegar Leisure Centre with all the proceeds going to Children in Need. This was the first time the boys enjoyed the Limousine treatment when arriving to do the show.

1992
Recorded another demo tape at a London Studio. They played Night Clubs such as Savaas in Usk, The Gardens in Yeovil and a regular gig at The Park Hotel in Hereford supporting famous acts such as The Swinging Blue Jeans, Marty Wilde, Showaddy-Waddy, The Bay City Rollers, The Rockin' Berries and the Superb Alvin Stardust. They also made two appearances at the Garden Festival in Ebbw Vale.

1993
The band's summer season this year was at Butlins - Minehead, supporting The Commitments, The Vernons Girls and even Roger de-Coursey and Nookie Bear, to name but a few.

1994-96
The band enjoyed more gigs at Leisure Centres, Night Clubs and Holiday Camps throughout the UK, including Stafford, Warrington, Bristol and Hastings. They also wrote and cut at London and at Bass Player Kevin's home studio.

1997
This year saw the diversification of "Red Alert" into the Theatres. Their first appearance was at the Dolman Theatre, Newport, supporting one of Britain's most popular Rock n' Roll singers, Brian Lee. In August of this, the band's tenth year, they performed at the London Palladium paying tribute to the King of Rock n' Roll, Elvis Presley in a show namely Remembering Elvis. Again, this was with Brian Lee's tribute to the later years of the King. RED ALERT played songs from Elvis' early years and the show was a great success. In November of this year RED ALERT returned to the Dolman Theatre to put on their very first Shakin' Stevens Tribute show. At this time the name of the show was Fakin' Stevens but as many of you know, this name was dropped due to Shaky himself not liking it very much!

1998-99
Still conquering audiences, over this period the three original members of "Red Alert" were recruiting some new musicians for the two shows they can bring you today.

2000-01
The year 2000 saw the launch of this RED ALERT website. Also, during this period RED ALERT release their debut CD Namely "OUT FROM THE BLUE". The reaction to the album has been incredible feedback and outstanding reviews.  Some memorable shows from this time were the Shaky Tribute shows played for the UK Singles at some top Hotels. Also, the Ledbury Carnival for which RED ALERT supported The Merseybeats. (and blew them off the lorry!)

2002-03

This period the band enjoyed bringing their brand new "GREAT ROCK N' ROLL BRIT PACK SHOW" to theatres in England and South Wales resulting in yet another major triumph.  RED ALERT collaborated with extra guest vocalists and musicians to perform this tribute to Britain's most successful Rock n' Rollers namely Alvin Stardust, Billy Fury, Cliff Richard and Shakin' Stevens.  It is Guitarist's Ozzy's  opinion that this show is RED ALERT'S most spectacular yet.  Guest musician Mathew recalls that in every show, EVERYBODY  in the audience were ON THEIR FEET clapping singing and dancing by the encores.  The band enjoyed more newspaper and radio publicity during and after the Brit Pack tour.

This was taken in the sound check at the Beck Theatre in Middlesex featuring the entire line up for the Brit Pack Show.  From left to right:- Ozzy, Lee, Mathew, Brian, Steve, Kevin + Rob.

Some other memorable occasions were when the band teamed up, once again, with Brian Lee as guests at his theatre show in Clacton-on-Sea.  This area had not enjoyed RED ALERT before this so new fans were gained and CD sales for "Out From the Blue" went CRAZY!   Also, RED ALERT played to American audiences for the first time in RAF Lakenheath on a number of occasions, and the Shaky Tribute show was taken as far as Ely in Cambridgeshire then immediately booked back for a return the following year.

Another memorable gig was in Bass Player Kevin's (now) hometown, Merthyr that resulted in a rave gig review in the Merthyr Express.
